KIM JONES PERFECTION
Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 Menswear Collection Lookbook
Designer Kim Jones and his team at the menswear department of Louis Vuitton have revealed the look-book for their S/S 2013 collection. Inspired by nautical expeditions and luxurious travel the collection is comprised of a mixture of formal wear garments, such as blazers and chino trousers, as well as several t-shirts and shorts with athletic aesthetics in mind. My favourite piece though is the fully-hand made distressed denim blazer, which is truly a work of art, just imagine all those hours that have been put into creating it. Traditional luxury luggage items, which are the trademark of the French house have also been re-created and now presented in a variety of neon colours. The collection is available now at Louis Vuitton boutiques around the globe.
Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2013 Collection Preview
Here is a closer at Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2013 Collection. Probably one of the most buzzed about collections during Paris Fashion Week, this collection took the brands “travel elegance” to new levels. Kim Jones who has only been at the helm of Louis Vuitton menswear for two years now, has made a significant impact on the brand. Keeping it very “Louis Vuitton”, yet keeping it fresh, and taking us to new places around the world. Every Paris Fashion Week that comes around, one always has to aboard the Vuitton express and be prepared to be taken somewhere unexpected. What I love about Kim Jones specifically, is not only is he a talented designer, but he travels world wide, and his collections reflect that. The Fall 2013 Collection was reflective of his travels to Nepal and Bhutan, had a very strong color palette filled with dark and subtle colors like grey, oxblood, and navy blue. The details were hinted at subtly, and truly made such a beautiful collection unfold. Perhaps the most impressive component from the collection, was the impeccably detailed printed eveningwear. Take a look at the detail in its entirety on HB, with photography by Ravi Sidhu for HB.
